The Plain Janes by Cecil Castellucci & Jim Rugg (2007 DC, 2018 reprint LBB)
Agent: WME

Summary: A story about four girls named Jane. When transfer student Jane is forced to move from the confines of Metro City to Suburbia, she thinks her life is over. But there is the lunch room at the reject table she finds her tribe: three other girls named Jane. Main Jane encourages them to form a secret art gang and paint the town P.L.A.I.N. – People Loving Art In Neighborhoods. But can art attacks really save the hell that is high school?

Notes: To be re-released by Little Brown sometime next year 🤞 This is a comic series was one that tons of undernourished nerdettes fell in love with. It was way ahead of its time. Now that everyone is obsessed with #girlgang it’s time to take a look at the girl tribe a la Rachael Leigh Cook She’s All That. A great mix of the cut to short Suburgatory and Mean Girls.
