A new adaptation of Hugo’s Hunchback of Notre Dame produced and starring Tom Hollander

Hugo1Tom Hollander is to star in a remake of Victor Hugo’s classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame for ITV and is searching for U.S. co-production partners.

Hollander is looking to play Quasimodo. He is producing this through his Bandstand Productions company.

The adaptation, which has been handed a script commission from British broadcaster ITV, is being written by War and Peace writer Andrew Davies. The writer has previously worked with Hollander on BBC drama A Poet in New York.

It would mark the first commission for Bandstand, which was set up by Hollander and Hannah Pescod, his collaborator on British comedy Rev, in 2015. They launched the “boutique” drama firm with a first-look deal with All3Media International.

Quasimodo has appeared in a number of Disney movies as well as stage adaptations.

Hollander is represented by 42 and WME.’
