‘Italy’s 11 Marzo Film and Palomar, together with TMG in Germany, is rebooting Umberto Eco’s 1980 medieval crime drama The Name of the Rose as an eight-part series starring John Turturro and Rupert Everett.
TMG has landed new agreements with a range of distributors for the event series The Name of the Rose, based on Umberto Eco’s worldwide bestseller.
Sky will distribute the program in German-speaking Europe, while other presales include Orange in France, YLE in Finland, NRK in Norway and DRtv in Denmark. The series is produced by 11 Marzo Film, Palomar and Tele München Group in association with RAI Fiction.
Herbert L. Kloiber, managing director of Tele München Group and Tele München International, said: “We are thrilled to have such a great roster of international partners who believe in The Name of the Rose as much as we do. We are more than happy to bring this authentic and multi-layered vision of Eco’s unparalleled novel to partners around the world.”
Nicola Serra, managing director and partner of Palomar, added: “These deals confirm the strong interest of the international market for high-quality dramas with solid production values and solid local artistic roots. This is giving us strength and certainty in what we do.”
