The romantic comedy is based on the first book in a trilogy centered on a U.S.-born Chinese economics professor and boyfriend. Starring Constance Wu as Rachel Chu, the film follows the native New Yorker as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore to meet his family. She soon finds out Nick has omitted a few key details about his life — turns out his family is “crazy rich” and he’s also one of the country’s most sought-after bachelors. She also finds out his mother, played by Michelle Yeoh, is not her biggest fan.
Along with Wu, Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, and Ken Jeong also star.
Warner Bros. releases the pic on August 17.
