‘Universal has given release dates for three Amblin Partners pics: Dreamworks Pictures’ The Turning on Feb. 22 next year, Amblin’s A Dog’s Journey on Friday, May 17, 2019
The Turning is a haunted house thriller inspired by the Henry James novella ‘The Turn of the Screw’ and follows a nanny who oversees two distributed orphans who are harboring dark secrets at an estate in Maine. Floria Sigismondi directs with Mackenzie Davis, Finn Wolfhard, Joely Richardson and newcomer Brooklyn Prince starring.The Conjuring‘s Chad & Carey Hayes wrote with Jade Bartlett, and Roy Lee and Scott Bernstein are producing. The Turning will open against IMGlobal/Paramount’s The Rhythm Section.
A Dog‘s Journey is the sequel to A Dog’s Purpose. Based on the bestselling series by author W. Bruce Cameron, pic directed by Gail Mancuso, follows a dog who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love. Gavin Polone produces, Cameron & Cathryn Michon and Wally Wolodarsky & Maya Forbes adapt. Walden Media is a co-producer here. Pic faces off on its May date next year against Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter Three, and Warner Bros.’ The Sun Is Also a Star.
