‘Dan Stevens will join Harrison Ford in Fox’s Call of the Wild by Jack London adaptation, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The Jack London classic book centered on a sled dog that survives the Alaskan wilderness, as well as a series of abusive owners. Ford is set to play Jack Thornton, a prospector looking for gold in the Yukon.
Animation director Chris Sanders — co-helmer of The Croods and How to Train Your Dragon — is making his live-action debut with the feature, which will incorporate major CG elements. Loganscreenwriter Michael Green adapted the novel for the screen.
Stevens, who is repped by WME, the U.K.’s Julian Belfrage and Peikoff Mahan, was just seen in the second season of FX’s Legion, Noah Hawley’s X-Men-based series. The actor has Gareth Evans’ Netflix drama Apostle in the can for a possible release later this year and recently joined Elisabeth Moss, Amber Heard and Cara Delevigne in the punk-rock drama Her Smell and Hawley’s untitled astronaut drama from Fox Searchlight.
The Call of the Wild is getting a Christmas 2019 release date.’
