It’s the first trailer for the long delayed “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” with Sophie Turner starring as Jean Grey.
The trailer shows Grey’s progression from a unwitting child who accidentally causes a car accident to a conflicted, tumultuous young woman who seeks out counsel from Michael Fassbender’s Magneto when she feels betrayed by James McAvoy’s Professor Charles Xavier.
The film’s release date was rescheduled from November to Feb. 2019 to accommodate reshoots for the third act.
Jennifer Lawrence returns as Mystique, as well as Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Tye Sheridan appears as Cyclops, with Evan Peters reprising his role as Quicksilver. Jessica Chastain also joins the X-Men universe as platinum-haired villain Smith. Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee also star.
“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” was written and directed by longtime X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg, who penned 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand.”
“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is scheduled to hit theaters Feb. 14, 2019.
