It’s our monthly B2S Book Club, where we discuss a recent film adaptation and the book it’s based on! The club is run with fellow blogger Tom Out.
As it’s always a difficult month to try organize anyone we’re doing a mini edition for December with To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han (2014, Simon & Schuster). The film adaptation was released on Netflix in August. We’ll be meeting at Simmons Bar in Soho for some cocktails on December 20th at 7pm. The film stars Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Janel Parrish, and John Corbett. It was adapted by Sofia Alvarez and directed by Susan Johnson.
We’ve already chosen our January b2s book club pick and as it a hunker of a book we wanted to announce it now to be able to give everyone time to start reading! It will be Queen Of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart by John Guy (2014, Houghton Mifflin). We’ll be meeting toward the end of January and will announce the exact date next month.
It stars Saoirse Ronan as Mary Stuart and Margot Robbie as Queen Elisabeth I.
It was adapted by Beau Willimon (House of Cards, The First). It is directed by Josie Rourke, this is directorial film debut and is well known for her work on the West End. The film is produced by Focus Features, Perfect World Pictures and Working Title Films.
We always encourage you to support your local independent bookseller in purchasing the book and independent cinemas in your viewing!
Last month we discussed Wildlife by Richard Ford. We were all pretty united in our love of this film and book!
