The Newton Brother’s To Score ‘Doctor Sleep’

‘Doctor Sleep is going to be made a little scarier with help from The Newton Brothers.

The Stephen King adaptation will be scored by the composing duo, made up of Andy Grush and Taylor Stewart. With Doctor Sleep, the Newton Brothers are reteaming with director Mike Flanagan, with whom they worked on a number of films, including the acclaimed King adaptation Gerald’s Game and Ouija: Origin of Evil, as well as the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House.

“The Shining is such an impressive piece of work in all forms, and Doctor Sleep picks up from that in such a brilliant way. Stephen King is incomparable,” the Newton Brothers said in a statement. “Working with Mike is an incredible honor every time. The material he works with, the stories he tells and adapts, the talent, the crew, the producers … everyone involved brings their A-game every time and it inspires us to create the absolute best score for the film that we possibly can. It’s humbling to be on this team.”

Doctor Sleep is an adaptation to Stephen King’s 2013 The Shining sequel, and stars Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance as he battles alcoholism and deals with the trauma of childhood events he lived through at a Colorado hotel in The Shining. Amid this backdrop, Danny is presented with an opportunity to use the shining power to help a young girl.

Mission: Impossible’s Rebecca Ferguson and Westworld’s Zahn McClarno also star. Warner Bros. is releasing Doctor Sleep on Jan. 24, 2020.’
