Johnny Flynn Joins New Jane Austen’s ‘Emma’ Adaptation

‘Genius actor and singer/songwriter Johnny Flynn has boarded Focus Features and Working Title’s Emma, the latest adaptation of the classic Jane Austen novel.

Flynn joins Anya Taylor-Joy, who is taking on the title role in the feature film directed by Autumn De Wilde and adapted by Eleanor Catton. Graham Broadbent and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing.

Flynn is starring in the London West end stage production of Sam Shepard’s True West opposite Kit Harington. He starred as the young Albert Einstein in Season 1 of NatGeo’s Genius earning a Critics’ Choice nomination. Flynn also recently starred in the ITV/Amazon Studios mini-series Vanity Fair as William Dobbin. Other film credits include Beast, Clouds of Sils Maria, and Song One.

Flynn is also lead singer and songwriter of the band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit. He wrote the entire score including the theme song for the BBC Four TV series Detectorists.
