‘Kelly Hu (Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, The Scorpion King) is set to star in Becoming Ginger Rogers, an indie film, which is being directed by Anna Chi (Blindness, Lost Summer, The Boxcar Children: Surprise Island).
The romantic comedy is based on the memoir Becoming Ginger Rogers: How Ballroom Dancing Made Me a Happier Woman, Better Partner, and Smarter CEO by New York publicist Patrice Tanaka. In the wake of 9/11 and faced with a personal crisis involving her beloved Afghani husband, the Hawaiian-born Tanaka turned to ballroom dancing as an escape. Against all odds she became a sensation on the competitive circuit, rediscovering her true self in the process.
Beverly Kopf and Gary Goldstein optioned the novel and will pen the screenplay.
Hu, who recently was seen in The Orville on Fox, is repped by Buchwald and Mainstay Entertainment. Chi is repped by Summit Talent & Literary Agency.’
