B2S Book Club February Pick: If Beale Street Could Talk

Our February Books 2 Screen pick is, If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin (1994, Penguin). You can listen to past choices over on SoundCloud.  We will be meeting on February 28th to discuss!

Harlem in the 1970s: the black soul of New York City. Tish is nineteen and the man she loves – her lifelong friend and the father of her unborn child – has been jailed for a crime he did not commit. As their families come together to fight for his freedom, will their love be enough?

It stars KiKi Layne, Stephan James, and Regina King.

It was adapted and directed by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight). The film is produced by Annapurna Pictures, PASTEL and Plan B Entertainment.
