B2S Book Club February Pick: The Colour Out of Space by H.P Lovecraft

Our February Books 2 Screen pick is The Colour Out of Space by H.P Lovecraft (1927, Amazing Stories). You can listen to past choices over on SoundCloud or Spotify.  We will be meeting on February 26th to discuss!

For those not in London please feel free to discuss the book/film below and we will post a recording of the group to post!

An unnamed narrator pieces together the story of an area known by the locals as the “blasted heath” in the wild hills west of the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts. The narrator discovers that many years ago a meteorite crashed there, poisoning every living being nearby; vegetation grows large but foul tasting, animals are driven mad and deformed into grotesque shapes, and the people go insane or die one by one.

It stars  Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson, and Madeleine Arthur.

It was adapted by Scarlett Amaris ( The Otherworld, Blood Bags, The Theatre Bizarre) and directed by Richard Stanley (The Island of Dr. Moreau, Hardwire, Dust Devil).

The film is produced by SpectreVision, ACE Pictures Entertainment, BRO Cinema and XYZ Films.

We always encourage you to support your local independent bookseller in purchasing the book and independent cinemas in your viewing!

Last month we discussed Caging Skies Christine Leunens, that was adapted into the film JoJo Rabbit by Taika Waititi.
